Cluttr helps families clear a deceased estate in Christchurch without having to become second hand sellers in the middle of it. Photograph the contents when you are ready, we value each item honestly, and a vetted local reseller collects and sells what has value. There is no deadline from us, and anything that should be looked at by a specialist is flagged rather than guessed at.
Why this is such a job

- There is usually a deadline from a tenancy, a sale, or family arriving from out of town.
- It is hard to know what is genuinely valuable and what is not, and easy to be talked down on either.
- Sentiment and money are tangled together, and most clearance services are not gentle about it.
What we do instead
- 1Photograph the contents whenever you are ready. There is no clock running.
- 2We value each item and flag anything, like antiques or jewellery, that deserves a specialist rather than a quick number.
- 3A reseller collects what you have chosen to sell, and leaves the rest.
- 4You get a record of everything that left, and your share as items sell.
Questions people ask
- We are not ready to decide on everything yet. Is that a problem?
- No. You can scan the whole house and only include the items you have decided on, and come back to the rest whenever. Nothing is collected until you say so.
- What about antiques, jewellery or artwork?
- We do not put a firm value on those. They are flagged as needing a specialist, because a photograph cannot tell you what a hallmark or a signature is worth and a confident wrong number could cost the estate a lot.
- Can you deal with a solicitor or an executor rather than family?
- Yes. Tell us who is handling it and we will keep the records and the payouts pointed at the right person.
- Do we get a record of what was taken?
- Yes. Every item is photographed and listed before it leaves, which matters when several family members need to see what happened to what.
